📝 Role Overview

Ampersand seeks a Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment across its offices, production sites, and charging stations. This role is crucial in upholding compliance with Kenyan national health and safety laws while promoting a culture of proactive safety and operational excellence.

The position reports to the Construction, Facility & Safety Manager.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Review and update health and safety (HS) policies in line with Kenyan regulations
  • Lead the development of new HS initiatives and protocols
  • Train new employees on health and safety practices
  • Conduct regular risk assessments across company locations
  • Propose and implement preventive safety measures based on risk findings
  • Manage the internal Health and Safety Committee
  • Provide expert guidance to leadership on safety-related issues
  • Inspect facilities, tools, and employee practices to ensure compliance
  • Monitor waste management and environmental safety practices
  • Investigate accidents, document findings, and assist with workers’ compensation
  • Deliver reports and statistics to senior management

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Public Health, or Engineering
  • OSHA certification or similar is mandatory
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HSE role (preferably in construction or manufacturing)
  • Solid understanding of OHS regulations, hazardous materials, and risk mitigation
  • Strong skills in report writing, policy creation, and communication
  • Attention to detail, high ethics, and organizational excellence
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
